Tips for Using Aquaseal FD Cure Accelerator
INSTRUCTIONS
Before use, give the Cure Accelerator a good shake for about 30 seconds to ensure the thickening agent is well-blended and returns to a liquid state. To make cleanup easier, consider wearing disposable rubber gloves. Below, you'll find instructions for using it with Seam Grip WP and Aquaseal adhesives.
Precleaner
- Begin by spot testing an inconspicuous area for colorfastness.
- Apply a small amount of Cure Accelerator to the damaged area using a brush.
- Thoroughly buff the area with a rag until it's dry or allow it to air dry.
- For fabric surfaces, proceed to apply the adhesive as you normally would. For smooth surfaces, use sandpaper to roughen them first, and then repeat steps 2 and 3.
- If a white film appears after Cure Accelerator dries, simply remove it with soap, water, and a sponge.
Cure Accelerator
- Mix 1 part Cure Accelerator with 3-4 parts Seam Grip WP, Aquaseal FD, or Aquaseal SR using a stick, toothpick, or knife. Make sure to thoroughly blend them on a non-absorbent surface like plastic.
- Immediately apply the mixture to the damaged area.
- Keep the repaired area level and allow it to cure for at least 2 hours before use. It's a good idea to test it before putting it to regular use.
Storing Aquaseal FD Cure Accelerator
Remember to cap the Cure Accelerator tightly and store it in a cool, dry place.
Why is my Cure Accelerator cloudy or hard?
To comply with child safety laws in the State of California, a thickening agent was added to the 1/2 oz. bottle of Cure Accelerator. Before using the Cure Accelerator, shake the bottle for at least 30 seconds. The new formula should not affect bonding. However, if used as a pre-cleaner, the thick version of Cure Accelerator may leave a white film. You can easily remove this by wiping with a soapy sponge. Water alone will not do the trick.
